Family Weekend Golf Rules

I. Governing Rules

The rules of the United States Golf Association will apply in all cases except where a special Oregon State University Intramurals rule applies.

II. Eligibility

One participant must be a student registered at Oregon State University or Faculty/Staff/Affiliate with a Recreational Sports Membership. For more information on eligibility, consult the Intramurals Handbook.

III. Format

  • A 2-person scramble format will be used.
  • Each player must tee off on each hole.
  • The best of the tee shots is selected and all players play their second shots from that spot.
  • The better of the second shots is determined, and then all play their third shots from that spot, and so on until the ball is holed.
  • Two drives and two putts from each player must be used.
  • Turn in scorecards to the tournament director at the end of your round.

IV. Other Rules

  • Play Ready Golf.
  • Keep pace with the group in front of you.
  • Pick up any putts within two feet.
  • Decide quickly about which ball to use.
  • Limit the number of practice swings.
  • Scores are capped at double bogey, at which point the ball should be picked up.

V. Conduct

The Intramurals program promotes positive sportsmanship at all contests and activities. Unsportsmanlike conduct includes actions which are unbecoming to an ethical, fair, and honorable individual. It consists of acts of deceit, disrespect, or vulgarity and includes taunting.

VI. Ejections

Any player ejected from a game will be immediately suspended from participating in all Intramurals activities. The ejected player must then make an appointment with the Coordinator of Intramurals and Sports Coordinator to determine the length of suspension and any other sanctions. The following actions can result in ejections from Intramurals:

  • Improper language
  • Unsporting conduct
