What is Free Agency
No team? No problem.
Free Agency is the easiest way to join an intramural if you don’t have a full team. You can register as a Free Agent for a league or tournament in IMLeagues.
Once you’re on the Free Agent list:
- Team managers can invite you to join their team.
- You can also request to join a team (especially teams that note they’re looking for Free Agents).
How Free Agency Works
Step 1: Choose Your Desired League and Tournaments
- Visit IMLeagues.
- Log in or create an account using your ONID email.
- Select a sport, then choose a league within that sport.
- Click “JOIN AS A FREE AGENT.”
- Accept the waiver.
- Provide additional information about yourself.

Step 2: Managers Contact You
As teams fill their rosters, managers review the free agent list for their specific league and reach out directly if they need additional players.
Step 3: Optional Roundup Event
- During the team manager's meeting, we invite managers and free agents to connect at a Roundup Event.
- Roundups are not required. You can still be added to a team just by joining the Free Agent list in IMLeagues.
Step 4: Free Agent Team Formation (If Possible)
If registration closes and:
- There are open league spots, and
- Enough free agents remain
Sports Programs staff may form a full team of free agents and help coordinate initial communication.

Free Agent Roundups
During the manager meeting, we invite both free agents and team managers to stay afterward to connect in person at a Free Agent Roundup.
This informal meet-and-connect is:
- An opportunity to meet team managers face-to-face
- A chance to introduce yourself and express interest in specific leagues and tournaments
- A way to increase your visibility before teams finalize rosters
- Completely optional
Attendance is not required to be selected for a team. Managers may still contact free agents directly through IMLeagues at any point during registration.
