Youth Access Guidelines

Age Guidelines
0-7
  • Must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
  • May only participate in Family Swim, Family Climb and general recreation during Youth Access Hours.
8-15
  • Must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
  • May only take part in non-contact, non-competitive, individual sports such as badminton, pickle ball, table tennis, racquetball, squash, tennis, wally ball, and non-competitive basketball, soccer or volleyball.
  • May not use the weight rooms, cardio rooms, or speed bag room and may not use mechanical or combative equipment.
16-17
  • Must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
  • May use all facilities during open hours; academic year and breaks
  • Are not eligible for most services, programs, trips or classes with the exception of specifically designed, age-appropriate programs.

Family Swim

The following supervision limits and guidelines for family swim time are strictly enforced:

  • Youth must be accompanied by a participating adult (age 18 or older) at all times
  • Youth may only participate during Family Access Hours.  
  • If a child is not able to move in the water without feet touching the bottom or needs to wear a life-jacket, the child is considered a non-swimmer. Only three “non-swimmers” per adult and the adult must be in the water within arm’s reach of the children.
  • Only five “swimmers” per adult and the adult must be able to directly observe the children.
  • Babies are allowed in the pool with plastic swim diapers.

Family Climb

The following supervision limits and guidelines for family climb time are strictly enforced:

  • Kids under 16 are allowed to climb during family climb time.
  • May only participate during Family Access Hours
  • All participants under 18 must have a youth waiver on file signed by their parent or legal guardian. This waiver expires after one year.
  • Participants under 16 cannot belay and must be accompanied by a belay certified adult at all times.
  • Only two participants under 16 are allowed per certified adult.
  • Children under eight must be under direct supervision by a certified adult at all times (within arm’s reach).

Youth Locker Room/Shower Facilities Guidelines

  • Youth age 5 and under may use the opposite sex locker room during Family Access Hours if accompanied by a supervising individual. A universal access Family Changing Room is available, which includes a shower, lockers and changing table, and is located on the first floor of Dixon.
