To better serve Recreational Sports members and the OSU Community, Student Legacy Park, the Sand Volleyball Courts and multiple Dixon Recreation Center Program and Services spaces are under construction throughout the summer of 2023.

The sidewalk on the north side of Washington Way directly adjacent to Student Legacy Park will also be closed. Other possible impacts include noise, dust and mud near the construction site. Visit the OSU Campus Closures, Shutdowns, and Detours page for updates on this and other campus closures.

Student Legacy Park Fields

  • All athletic fields will have a new synthetic turf with a cork infill and a cushioned elastic-layer. This provides a cooler, more sustainable field with consistent performance.  
  • The east field will have full‐sized removable rugby goals. 
  • Student Legacy Park fencing will be repaired. 

Student Legacy Park Track

  • The track will be resurfaced with a new pigmented textured spray coating, adding increased vibrancy to the existing color and enhanced durability. 

Student Legacy Park Basketball and Tennis Courts

  • The basketball and indoor and outdoor tennis courts will be resurfaced. 
  • The tennis courts windscreens will be replaced. 
  • The court's fencing will be repaired. 

Student Legacy Park Central Plaza

  • The installation of a new shade structures will provide increased comfort.
  • Synthetic landscape turf installation will enhance event and recreation flexibility and accessibility while eliminating the need for irrigation and allowing for year-round use. 

Sand Volleyball Courts

  • Synthetic landscape turf installation will enhance event and recreation flexibility and accessibility while eliminating the need for irrigation and allowing for year-round use. 
  • A new, concrete shaded area will be added that includes a drinking fountain/water bottle filling station, a hose and an accessible viewing area. 
  • Shade structures will be installed to increase user comfort. 
  • A fence will be installed along the south edge of the new turf, between the volleyball pit and Washington Way, to create a separate space between recreation activity and pathways.  

Dixon Service and Program Spaces

  • A new Fitness & Wellness community hub will be created to support wellness coaching, fitness assessment and student staff. 
  • The Sport Programs offices will be will be renovated to support enhanced services including a head injury impact-testing room and increased office space. 
  • The administrative offices within the Dixon Recreation Center Room 211 will be updated to create enhanced student work spaces. 

Multipurpose Room 3

  • Renovated to support mind, body programming with the addition of LED lighting, natural materials, curtains and enhanced circulation. 
  • As a result of ongoing construction, Multipurpose Room 3 is closed through fall term 2023. 

Sun Deck

  • The sun deck area located within the south-end of Dixon will be converted to a low-maintenance multi-use area for activity.
