Discover the joy of swimming and build your confidence with Rec Sports swim lessons. Whether you prefer group or private sessions, our certified instructors, trained by the American Red Cross in Water Safety Instruction (WSI) and Lifeguarding (LG), ensure a fun and effective learning experience.

Group Swim Lessons
Our group lessons follow a structured, six-level progression designed to enhance water safety and swimming skills. 

Private Swim Lessons
For a more personalized approach, our private swim lessons offer customized instruction tailored to your individual goals and skill level.

Group and Private swim lessons are available year-round.

Group Swim Lessons - Youth (Ages 6-14) Levels 1-3

  • These swim lessons aim to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to develop various swimming techniques and general water safety. Key skills include combining arm and leg movements, rotary breathing and performing flip turns.
  • Session Options:
    • Session 1 (5:40-6:20 p.m.)
      • Mondays and Wednesdays, July 7 to July 30
    • Session 2 (11-11:40 a.m.)
      • Mondays through Thursday, Aug. 4 to Aug. 14
    • Session 3 (5:40-6:20 p.m.)
      • Mondays through Thursday, Aug. 18 to Aug. 28
    • Eight-Week Session (11-11:40 a.m.)
      • Saturdays, July 12 to Aug. 30

Group Swim Lessons - Youth (Ages 6-14) Levels 4-6

  • These swim lessons focus on improving stroke techniques, building endurance and preparing swimmers for advanced skills and water safety. These classes help swimmers gain confidence and water proficiency.
  • Session Options:
    • Eight-Week Session (11:50-12:30 p.m.)
      • Saturdays, July 12 to Aug. 30

Group Swim Lessons - Pre-School (Ages 3-6)

  • Swim lessons focus on water safety, building confidence and introducing foundational techniques such as floating, kicking and basic strokes, all within a supportive environment.
  • Session Options:
    • Session 1 (5-5:30 p.m.)
      • Mondays and Wednesdays, July 7 to Aug. 6 (no class on July 23, make-up class Aug. 6)   
    • Session 2 (10:15-10:45 a.m.)
      • Mondays through Thursday, Aug. 4 to Aug. 14
    • Session 3 (5-5:30 p.m.)
      • Mondays through Thursday, Aug. 18 to Aug. 28
    • Eight-Week Session (10:15-10:45 a.m.)
      • Saturdays, July 12 to Aug. 30

OSU Student and Rec Sports Members Private Swim Lessons

  • Private Lessons: 1 instructor, 1 swimmer
  • Customized Learning: Lessons are tailored to each swimmer’s specific needs and goals, providing personalized attention, targeted feedback and a customized pace.
  • Scheduling: Swimmers must schedule an initial appointment for their first meeting or a follow-up appointment if purchasing additional passes.

Private & Semi-Private Swim Lessons (Ages 3-14)

  • Private Lessons: 1 instructor, 1 swimmer
  • Semi-Private Lessons: 1 instructor, 2 swimmers
