Indoor Climbing Centers
Welcome to the Adventure Leadership Institute™ (ALI™) Indoor Climbing Centers, where adventure meets community! Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned climber, join us for an exhilarating climb.
Equipment
- Participants can check out all necessary equipment, including harnesses, ropes, belay devices and carabiners, for free.
- We also offer climbing shoe rentals and sell chalk balls at the ALI Desk.
Events
- The Indoor Climbing Centers hosts a variety of events from frequent Affinity Climb Nights to the annual Vert Fest Climbing Competition.

Dixon Climbing Center

Drop-In Climbing
Open Bouldering & Top Rope Climbing
- Challenge yourself at the McAlexander Fieldhouse and Dixon Climbing Center Bouldering and Climbing Walls. A waiver is required for participation.
Bouldering Waiver
Lead Climbing
Lead climbing is permitted during all open hours provided the climber:
- Passed the Lead Climbing Certification Class
- Obtained supervisor approval
- Completed the Lead Climbing Waiver

Belay Certification Classes
Our 90-minute Belay Skills Check is an essential annual requirement for all climbers. This session:
- Introduces participants to our climbing centers
- Provides comprehensive belay skills training
- Offers personalized attention with sessions limited to six participants
Belay Certification Classes are offered daily and are free for students on a first come, first served basis with up to six participants per class.

Family Climbing
The following supervision limits and guidelines for family climb time are strictly enforced:
- Children under 16 are allowed to climb during family climb time.
- All participants under 18 must have a youth waiver on file signed by their parent or legal guardian. This waiver expires after one year.
- Participants under 16 cannot belay and must be accompanied by a belay certified parent or guardian.
- Only two participants under 16 are allowed and must be accompanied by their parent or guardian.
- Children under eight must be under direct supervision by their parent or guardian at all times (within arm’s reach).
Youth Policies & Guidelines
- Please refer to Recreational Sports Youth Access Guidelines and Family Access Hours for information about climbing eligibility and access.
- Note: Those under 18 need a parent/guardian to sign a youth waiver (pdf) on a yearly basis to use the Climbing Center.
