Meet Marilyn Austin, a Sophomore from San Diego double majoring in Economics and Business Finance here at Oregon State. Last term, Marilyn, along with three other members of the Sales Club flew to Toledo, Ohio to represent OSU at the national UTISC Sales Competition. Marilyn is the Vice President of this club.

For Marilyn, staying busy is something she enjoys, but reveals her commitments can sometimes be overwhelming. That's where Recreational Sports comes into play. "Getting into fitness has been so beneficial to me mentally and physically," she says. "I love working out at Dixon and honestly have never found a gym with so many squat racks. There are normally weights and machines available, and the facility offers many options."

Marilyn has created a weekly routine which split up her workouts according to her major muscle groups. Typically, she lifts weights for about an hour each day but often does cardio or HITT at the ends of her sessions. Working out "has made me much more confident in myself," she says, and "it has given me great pride when I achieve goals I set for myself."

"There are a lot of reasons I work out," Marilyn explains, "but the main one is the health aspect of it. Exercise gives me the peace of mind that I am treating my body right and am being kind to it. I am very health conscious and want to do my best so that I live a long and healthy life."

If Marilyn isn't grinding in Corvallis, she's most likely traveling, which is one of her greatest passions. She's spent a year abroad in Italy and has visited France, Switzerland, Greece, Turkey, Morocco, Tahiti, Costa Rica, and many other places as well.
