The following documents must be submitted (uploaded as part of the application, below) in a professional form and appearance to be considered for employment. 

  • Resume and three references 
  • Cover letter stating interest in working for the Department of Recreational Sports
  • If available, copies of all relevant certifications (CPR/PR w/AED, First Aid, Lifeguard training, etc.)
  • Completed employment application

    • If you wish to be considered for more than one position, indicate all areas of interest on your application.
    • If you are re-submitting a resume, please let us know in the "Additional Comments or Notes" section of the application so we can make sure we're reviewing your most current information.

Applications will be screened for the skill(s) required for each of the vacant positions(s) for which you have expressed interest.  Previous work experience will be evaluated.

1. Class Enrollment:

  • Undergraduate Students – Must be taking at least 6 credits from OSU or another university or college.
  • Graduate Students – Must be taking at least 3 credits from OSU.  (If a Graduate Assistant, it must be less than .49 FTE.)
  • Temporary Staff – Contract based; half time only; must not be enrolled in classes and not have other campus employment.

2. Background Check: hiring is contingent upon successful applicants satisfactorily passing a criminal background check (excluding Intramural Officials and Aquatics and Marketing staff).

3. Safety Certificates: Must be certified or willing to become certified in the following before starting work at Recreational Sports.

  • First Aid
  • Professional Rescuer CPR with AED
  • Bloodborne Pathogens
